Middle School Testing
At West Craven Middle School, students participate in ongoing assessments throughout the year to support their learning and growth.
-
NC Check-Ins: These benchmark assessments take place three times a year in the classroom. They help teachers track student progress and tailor instruction to meet individual needs.
-
AIMSweb Progress Monitoring: Schoolwide assessments are conducted three times annually to monitor overall student growth and guide support services.
-
NC Extend 1: For students on Extended Content Standards, such as those in Ms. Kelly’s class, the NC Extend 1 assessment is given as an alternative to standard state tests.
State-Mandated Tests:
At the end of the school year, students take required state tests to measure mastery of grade-level standards:
- NC End-of-Grade (EOG) Reading and Math Tests (Grades 3-8)
- NC End-of-Grade Science Test (Grade 8)
- NC End-of-Course (EOC) Math I Test (Grade 8)
- Final Exam for English I (Grade 8)
Please remember that test scores are just one measure of student learning. Our students are much more than their test results, and we celebrate their unique strengths and achievements every day.
The WCMS Testing Calendar will be uploaded when available.
