Lynn Meall, Principal

Lynn Meall is the principal at West Craven Middle School, leading the WCMS Administrative Team alongside Cordelia Breiner and Bobby Cox. She began her career in public education as a teacher in Maryland before relocating to New Bern, North Carolina in 2015, where she taught in Beaufort County Schools.

In 2020, Mrs. Meall joined Craven County Schools and served as assistant principal at West Craven High School before becoming principal at James W. Smith Elementary for the 2023-2024 school year. She is grateful to continue serving the western Craven County community and looks forward to partnering with students, families, and staff to foster a supportive and thriving school environment at WCMS.

Cordelia Breiner, Assistant Principal

Cordelia Breiner is an assistant principal at West Craven Middle School, returning to join the WCMS Administrative Team alongside Principal Lynn Meall and Assistant Principal Bobby Cox. A 2016 Teach For America–Eastern North Carolina alumna, Cordelia is deeply committed to ensuring every student has access to meaningful opportunities.

Born in Tonga and raised across the United States, Ms. Breiner attended multiple schools before earning her B.S. in Psychology from Michigan State University. She began her educational career teaching 6th graders math in Lenoir County through Teach For America, a two-year commitment that grew into a lifelong mission.

Ms. Breiner has held leadership roles in Washington County Schools as the middle school instructional coach, district instructional technology facilitator, district MTSS coordinator, and high school assistant principal. She earned her Masters of School Administration from East Carolina University, graduating as an NC Principal Fellow through ECU’s PIRATE Leadership Academy.

At West Craven Middle School, Ms. Breiner works with a dedicated team to create a supportive and engaging learning environment for each and every student. She is passionate about professional development, having led hundreds of training hours for educators nationwide on topics including data-informed decision making, educational technology, trauma-informed practices, and student engagement.

Outside of school, Ms. Breiner enjoys spending time with her family, engaging in creative hobbies, and exploring new travel adventures. She is excited to contribute her experience and energy to the WCMS community as part of the #DreamTeam at WCM.

Bobby Cox, Assistant Principal

 

 

Bobby Cox is an assistant principal at West Craven Middle School and a proud member of the WCMS Administrative Team alongside Principal Lynn Meall and AP Breiner. A graduate of Elon University with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, Mr. Cox began his educational career in 2004 as a teacher assistant in the Exceptional Children’s Program at West Craven Middle School.

He transitioned to West Craven High School in 2007, where he served as ISS Coordinator before becoming a social studies teacher in 2012. During his time at WCHS, Mr. Cox also contributed as a bus driver, football coach, and assistant athletic director. In 2021, he was honored as the WCHS Teacher of the Year.

Mr. Cox earned his master’s degree in secondary education from Grand Canyon University and completed his Masters of School Administration at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke in 2023. With 20 years of experience in Craven County Schools, Mr. Cox is passionate about building strong relationships and making a positive impact on students’ lives.
